Dear visitor,
My name is Jan Ellwoth and I have created this website and registered the WothRline company, so I can share my knowledge and experience with Volvo owners and car enthusiasts all over the world. Here you will find specific information and more than 23 years of my automotive experiences concerning Volvo vehicles with turbochargers, but also general information and knowledge that can be transferred to any car brand.
During my more than 22 years within Volvo Cars in Gothenburg, I have worked with a broad spectrum of tasks and assignments. I spent more than 14 years within Engine and Powertrain development. This variety of assignments have provided me with knowledge and experience from concept, development, production, to the final product and the customer. All these years in the automotive sector have also given me a large network with like-minded friends and colleagues. The WothRline site was launched in the mid 2000's and my network of Volvo enthusiasts from all over the world is constantly growing.
Some of my
assignments have of course been more rewarding than others. Working with concept studies of a
330hp S60R Edition and a 350hp S60R V8
at Special Vehicles and SW upgrade studies of all LPT, HPT and R-lines engines,
as well as the V8, I regard as high lights in my career. None of the S60R
concept made it to production, but the
S60RR came out of the Edition project and is
still active.
I had at this point spent nearly 10 years trying to
convince VCC that SW tuning should be a part of the business plan, but there were
still too many antagonist saying that it wasn't possible and that the material
couldn't stand the higher power.
Today this is all going through Polestar and no extra attention is made to the
product to stand the SW tune...
I have also made many vehicle performances upgrades within VCC and for myself over the years. One Volvo S80 T6 Executive with my SW
upgrade made for
Wolfgang Reitzle ended up in the
Swedish Royal Court and
SÄPO. I left Volvo Cars Easter 2007 but after
just a couple of weeks I was back as a consultant in a program manager
position for Infotainment systems quality,
responsible for audio system, Bluetooth, SDARS, telematics, navigation, antenna,
MOST, AUX, USB and Infotainment Control Modules (ICM). In November 2008 I wanted
to do something else and I resigned my assignment.
I
have had the fortune of getting to travel to many different places in the world
that I would never visited if it wasn't for the assignments within VCC. I really
miss travelling!
Another year (2010) has passed inside Volvo
Cars and as of December 21st I have resigned my assignment as task leader for BPM -
Bluetooth Phone Module, TEM - TElematic Module Volvo On Call for XC90, Microphones for all
projects and IOT - InterOperability Testing for BPM and IAM2.1 Bluetooth (the new
Infotainment system in the new S60/V60).
I got the opportunity to work for Volvo Trucks in Gothenburg and I thought
it might be fun to try something else than Volvo Cars for at least one period in
my life.
Since January 2011 I'm contracted as work package leader for air suspension and
body-builder functionality remote
controls at Volvo 3P, a division within Volvo Trucks Corp. It's proven to be a
more challenging task from what I expected, so I have, like we say in Sweden,
"gone from ashes into fire!"
In the future I would like to get back
to Special Vehicles or a similar division working with vehicle attributes concerning powertrain or complete vehicle.
I
have a wish for an assignment outside Sweden and it would be interesting to try
my wings in another country/surrounding for a shorter or longer period depending
on project and location. In an English speaking country preferably, but brushing
off my school German working for a German premium car maker is well in the
scope. Give me a call M, AMG or Quattro GmbH or similar SVT in US, UK or
Australia. ;)
Who knows what the future will bring...
